Fairford Primary School

Geography

Here at Fairford, we aim to develop children’s curiosity and fascination about the world that we live in and to provide them with the knowledge and skills required to be ‘a geographer’. Children investigate a range of places, both in Britain and abroad, to help expand their knowledge and understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes. Through our teaching, exploration and research, children from Early Years to Year 6, use geographical skills to discover answers to their own questions; gaining a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and their place within it. We are committed to providing all children with opportunities to investigate and make enquiries about our local area of Fairford so that they can develop a real sense of who they are, their heritage and what makes our local area unique and special. As an Eco School we continue to be passionate about raising environmental awareness. We encourage our school community to be proactive, global citizens who make a difference by respecting and caring for the world that God created and promoting Climate Justice.

Eco Schools and Green Flag Awards

Eco-Schools is an education programme that prompts young people to explore sustainability and climate justice and encourages them to take action.

We are delighted to have recently been awarded our fifth Green Flag – an international accreditation, recognising our amazing work in making our school more environmentally friendly and raising eco-awareness in our pupils.

Eco-Schools England Manager, Adam Flint, said: “Earning an Eco-Schools Green Flag Award takes passion, commitment and a desire to make a difference. Pupils should be proud of their great work. They’re an inspiration and it makes us feel heartened and positive about the future of our planet.”

Feedback about our application from the Green Flag Assessor…
‘Overall, this is a terrific application. Everyone at Fairford C of E Primary School should be proud of the Green Team and the amazing and inspiring work that they’ve delivered this year. You’re more than worthy of an Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction, Congratulations!’
