History

At Fairford, we are all historians. From the very early stages of their primary school experience, our children are taken on ‘history mysteries’ to uncover, question and explore the past in an engaging way. We believe that an exploration of the past helps us to better understand the world we live in today. In our long term plan, you will see the overarching substantive and disciplinary knowledge that our children cover in their time with us. We aim for our children to have enjoyment and appreciation of the past whilst developing their historical learning. From artefact filled investigations to lively debates, our History curriculum is varied and promotes the importance of enquiry based learning. We use connections with the community to develop children’s understanding about local history and plan engaging visits that enhance the learning for all.
