French
Children in Key Stage 2 (Y3-6) take part in 30 minute French lessons on a weekly basis. These lessons consist of speaking and listening, reading, and writing activities. Our children are very enthusiastic about learning languages and especially enjoy learning to talk about their hobbies, as well as learning French songs, games and taking part in extra-curricular French activities, such as Bastille Day celebrations and French club.
Our French curriculum coverage is set out in a way that allows our pupils to make progress throughout each year. The children will often re-visit previously taught topics in French lessons, building on these through learning more about grammar and expanding their vocabulary.
French has played a role in achieving our Artsmark award for the school. Each class has the opportunity to explore French in a creative way, often combining French learning with other subjects across the curriculum. We feel that this is an exciting way to deliver our French curriculum, in a way that motivates our pupils.
