I am a solicitor and live in Quenington. For many years I worked for one of the major British legal firms, specialising in complex financial transactions. Since retiring I have maintained that interest by acting as a consultant to a small London solicitors’ firm, My own seven children are now grown up and working but because of them I have long been interested in education. My original degree was in History from Cambridge and now I have more time I have resumed the study of History and am engaged in research for a DPhil in History at Oxford. I have been a governor of Farmor’s School for many years and became a governor of Fairford Primary in May 2018. Fairford Primary is a wonderful school and I greatly enjoy my involvement with the school and my role on the Curriculum and Standards Committee.

I am a retired solicitor and moved from London to Fairford in 2018. As a child, I lived on Butterrow below Rodborough Common. My parents later farmed near Malmesbury before moving first to Chedworth and finally to Kemble Wick. They are both buried at St Matthew’s Church, Coates where my father’s great uncle was Rector between 1913 and 1936. I am married (to another retired solicitor) and we have two grown up daughters who live in London and St Margaret’s and frequently visit us. I am a member of St Mary’s Church and the Parochial Church Council. I am Chairman of Fairford and District u3a. I am District Councillor for Fairford North on Cotswold District Council. It is very important to me to be able to support this wonderful school as a Foundation Governor.

I moved to the area in October 2014 to take up my post as Team Vicar in the South Cotswolds’ Team Ministry with particular responsibility for Fairford. I was ordained in Oxford in July 2011, and served my curacy in Amersham, Buckinghamshire for three and a half years. This role included close involvement with the two Church of England schools in the parish, which I greatly enjoyed. Before ordination I studied theology at Keble College, Oxford at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels before beginning a career in publishing. As a priest, theologian and mother, I am committed to ensuring that our staff, pupils and parents are fully supported as we shape our school into a place founded on Christian values, which encourages the very best from our children and community. I am a member of the Christian Values Committee and the Curriculum & Standards Committee.

Appointed by: N/A

My involvement with the school has spanned many years and first started when my daughter joined the school then later when my son joined I decided to stand as a parent governor. At that time I was a practising solicitor and it was a way that I could be a part of the school. I held many terms of office as a governor in different capacities over 20 years. In 2012 I completed my PGCE at Oxford Brookes and taught at the school until 2022. I now work in the Barn Theatre Cirencester, as well as continuing to support the school as clerk.

I love Fairford and the community I feel lucky to be a part of. I’ve always admired teachers so when my little girl’s school asked for a Parent Governor, I felt this was something I wanted to do to help her school to continue to run well.

I am a portrait photographer dealing with families and children so I already have a good relationship with parents across the community. Volunteering in other community events such as the Fairford Festival means I am also known within the community and am used to speaking to people from all walks of life. This ability to talk to anyone I hope is a skill I can use when working with other Governors as well as my ability to be empathetic to others in very different situations to myself.

I joined the committee just before the COVID Pandemic and saw first-hand how dedicated all the school staff were to all the pupils. I very much believe that learning enriches all our lives, but especially those of children, therefore I very much hope I can make my own contribution to the continued success of this school and in turn support our local community too.
