Little Explorers

Welcome to Little Explorers Nursery and Pre School.

Little Explorers has two large bright classrooms, one for our Nursery children and one for our Pre School children. The staff in the rooms are as follows
Nursery Room – Katie Martin, Ali Anstis, Sonia Evans, Abi Francis and Donna Bull
Pre School Room – Lucy Sherman Rosie Lawlor, Abi Francis Emma Hartshorn and Donna Bull
Our Lunchtime Supervisors are Stacey Grey and Sadie Robins

Little Explorers follows the Development Matters guidance, we approach the learning and teaching offered to the children in a two tier system, intended learning and spontaneous learning. Our intended learning activities develop the vital skills children need such as the art of speech and conversation, building relationships, understanding number concepts as well as developing their fine and gross motor skills. Spontaneous learning takes its lead from the children and their interests allowing them to develop and grow in their own ways. Both tiers of our curriculum are designed to interlink allowing us to use the children’s interests to develop core skills.

Our intended learning is offered through fun topics allowing the children the opportunities to explore and investigate the many wonders in the world. This could be natural wonders such as countries, animals and seasons, differences such as festivals, religion and our own differences or even learning about the important role of our emergency services. The activities themselves are tailored to suit the children and their learning skills and are designed to be open ended, fun, messy and to spark further investigation and exploration, allowing the children to learn and develop in ways that enthuse and inspires them to want to learn more.

This approach offers the children the chance to see themselves in the setting, have their experiences, knowledge and skills responded to; and offers them the chance to learn new and exciting experiences, knowledge and skills. Giving them all the vital skills they need for their continued academic journey.

Within Little Explorers we follow a key worker approach, meaning each child will be assigned a key worker when they start. They will help to settle your child into our setting and will build relationships with both parents and the children to allow for a smooth transition. They will also monitor development and hold regular parent meetings to discuss progress.

Here at Little Explorers we are lucky enough to offer some extra curricular activities. We offer a PE session once a week in the Eleri Hall.

We also offer outdoor learning sessions at least once a week in our on site woods. Within  these sessions we explore the outdoor environment, learn about the different seasons and learn about the different animals and insects that live in the our woods.
