Fairford Primary School

Emergency Closure Procedures

We endeavour at all times to keep the school open for pupils. However there are times when doing so may endanger the safety of pupils and/or staff; this may include – but is not limited to – bad weather or loss of power. If this decision is made in advance of the school opening for the day, we will notify the Gloucestershire Emergency Response Team. School closures notified in advance are advertised on the website: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/closures/ and on local radio stations. We will also use our text and email service to inform parents and carers of any such closures.

In exceptional circumstances, this decision may be taken during the school day. In which case, we will contact parents using our text and/or email service to advise them to collect their child/children as soon as possible. All children will be supervised by school staff until they are collected by someone on the child’s approved collection list. In these circumstances, we will also accept verbal permission to allow children to be collected by a different adult.

It is vital, therefore, that all emergency contact details are kept up to date and any changes notified to the school office as soon as possible.
